Situated in southwestern Uganda on the rift valley edge is one of the most ancient and popular African rainforests, the Bwindi Impenetrable forest. The park is home to over 400 mountain gorillas which half the population of surviving gorillas left in the world. The park is also home to 350 bird species & 120 mammal species including primates like baboons , monkeys & chimpanzees.
Activities – Gorilla trekking, bird watching, nature walks, mountain hiking, community visits to the Batwa.
Getting there – Bwindi is located 494 km from Kampala city and a road trip will last about 9 hours using the Mbarara-Masaka road and Kabale – Mbarara road. If you are starting the trip from Kabale, it will take about 2 and half hours using the Kabale-Kisoro road.
